In today's world, policies are often fragmented and theories inconsistent, leading to a disconnection between values and their practical application. In response to this, we have come together as a diverse group with various professional backgrounds, to launch an initiative aimed at promoting a more equitable alignment of values, knowledge, and practice. Our goal is to bridge the gap between Islamic ontology and its real-world application, thereby contributing to a more just society.
Qist Initiative is an independent scholarship entity dedicated to shaping reality through the guidance of the Quran and Hadith. The word ‘Qist’ (قِسط), which translates to justice, equity and fairness in English, is recurrent throughout the Quran, emphasising the importance of maintaining justice, with the ultimate accountability to Allah.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ
‘Surely Allah loves those who are just.’ - (Quran 5:42)
Allah Almighty has bestowed upon all human beings the responsibility of establishing justice and fairness as a way of life:
O believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or close relatives. Be they rich or poor, Allah is best to ensure their interests. So do not let your desires cause you to deviate from justice. If you distort the testimony or refuse to give it, then know that Allah is certainly All-Aware of what you do. - (Quran 4:135)
